Day center “Stephania” has already been taking care of homeless and poor Kyivans for 15 years.
We provide food and warm clothes, medical and legal assistance, help people find a job and offer more than 10 other free services.
We are ready to help anyone who found oneself in a tough situation. Pensioners and disabled persons are the ones who visit our center on a daily basis. But they have to overcome obstacles in the form of the stairs to receive our assistance. When trying to overcome the stairs these persons feel not only physical but psychological pain, realizing their helplessness.
We decided to improve the situation with their staying in our center. We have decided to install access ramps at the Center’s entrance and at the lavatory. But then we found out, that, unfortunately, the cost of such construction is too high for us and Administration of the Center has not enough funds to make it at its own expense. So we ask Ukrainian Philanthropic Marketplace, our regular and reliable partner, for help.
We have managed to raise enough funds for construction – an amount of 16561,00 hryvnias, through help of Ukrainian Philanthropic Marketplace and kind-hearted people of Kyiv by the end of November.
As a result, two access ramps were constructed: one at the Center’s main entrance, and the other – near the Center’s lavatory.
The installed access ramps have been tested for one month and passed the exam for February frost. Now these ramps became linking bridge between day center “Stephania” and disabled persons.
