“Social Partnership” Charity Fund’s team has decided to help child hospital “Okhmatdet”, which is in urgent need of the following special equipment used to care for premature babies:
- Re-breathing apparatus;
- Intravenous infusor;
- Neonatal intensive care apparatus.
There are 9 premature infants in child hospital “Okhmatdet” now, weighting less than 1 kilo, and requiring proper, qualitative rehabilitation.
This equipment is used successfully all over the world, and now it is vital need for the child hospital to have such equipment.
The abovementioned apparatus – is a key to saving lives of premature infants, who are admitted to the hospital from all over Ukraine.
Problem description:
According to UNO data, in 2012 Ukraine was one of the countries with the extremely high infant mortality (children up to 1 year old): This value was 2 times higher than the average over Europe.
Premature infants problem is very acute for Ukraine.23 thousands premature babies approximately are born in Ukraine annually – and only 50% of them survive, while in Europe almost 100% of premature babies survive thanks to application of modern technologies.
How this project will solve the problem:
Purchase, installation and application of the abovementioned equipment will reduce premature mortality of children admitted to this clinic.
Furthermore, using of this equipment will reduce level of infectious diseases among premature newborns and decrease period of intensive neonatal care by 20%.
Long-term outcome:
Incorporation and application of new modern equipment will become a motivation for development of the whole Health management system in Ukraine. Besides it will be a significant step towards the realization of premature infants’ aid and rehabilitation program.
It is expected that other child clinics and maternity hospitals will also follow the principle of modern technology application for premature infants’ rehabilitation.
