“Stephania” center celebrates its 17^th anniversary!

We celebrated birthday of our day care center “Stephania” on 23th of December. For more than 17 years the center has been functioning as most powerful institution for rendering assistance to those in need in Ukraine. Thousands of homeless people, pensioners and large families are saved here.

It’s been a long way for us – from small open air soup-kitchen to the unique day care center Our center where people can get more than 20 free services: they can have meal, take a shower, receive medical aid, new clothes, renew the documents and return to normal life.

The performance was held in the conference-room of the center “Stephania”. Such events became our good tradition – it is pleasant to gather and remember that there are no hopeless situations, and many homeless persons are really talented.

There were many songs and poetry on the scene as well as many recalls. We have heard a lot of pleasant words and even poems from our visitors. Luba and Alena, our employees decided to present poems to our visitors too. The girls has been working in our Social Patrol service for more than a year and love their hard work.

“The work in “Social Partnership” has made us more patient, taught us assess people not by their social status – the girls say. It’s been an honor for us to be on the scene and to make a performance for our visitors. They are just like us and like to laugh and have good sense of humor.

Besides we read poems sent to us during our work in Social Patrol. One poem was written by 10-years old girl. It is unbelievable. When you see this you understand that your work is really great”.

Elena Pyryaeva  also sang a song at our party. She has been working in our center since its creation.

“I remember “Stephania” as a common soup-kitchen, where we have given sandwiches and tea to the homeless – says Elena – we grew and improved each year.  And today “Stephania” is a real good production factory where thousands of people receive help.

My major mission in “Stephania” is not only support people and provide them with food and clothes, but help them return to normal life in society also. Every successful story of such return inspires and gives me strength!”
